OPEN MIC IX
November 16, 2025
SOLI’s annual community event in partnership with Texas Public Radio highlights San Antonio’s closet crooners and avid weekend-warrior performers presenting their favorite classical- contemporary works.
What are the guidlines for repertoire?
You can be a part of the show, as either a solo or ensemble. The only rules are that the music you perform must fit in with a traditional SOLI program. That means your music should be:
- Written no earlier than 1970.
- Through-composed (i.e. originally written down, not improvised.)
- Primarily acoustic in nature, or created with limited amplification.
- Generally falling within the “classical music” category if you were to buy it at the record store.
How do I participate?
An easy registration form is available above. Send us your details and we’ll confirm your participation within three business days.
I need an accompanist!
In the true spirit of performance, we would like all musical parts to be “live” unless the composition is specifically written for “prepared tape” or other prepared media. If your selected work calls for a piano accompaniment, we kindly ask that you use a live accompanist for your performance.
1970?
Yes, 1970 is the cutoff date for when a work was written; if you have the perfect piece to perform and it was written before 1970, please contact us.
Will I be on the radio?
Texas Public Radio will record Open Mic IX for broadcast on Performance Saturday! Watch this space for date and time courtesy of TPR.
