SOLI heads to SMU and a concert with SYZYGY
SOLI Chamber Ensemble brings its signature energy and artistry to Southern Methodist University’s Meadows School of the Arts for a multi-day residency September 30 to October 3. Students and audiences alike will experience masterclasses, lectures, and inspiring performances that celebrate creativity and collaboration.
A highlight of the residency is a side-by-side performance with SYZYGY, SMU’s contemporary music ensemble. The program features four works from SOLI’s 30x30x30 anniversary project, SMU faculty composer Xi Wang’s powerful Encounter Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge (commissioned by SOLI in 2011), and Steve Reich’s Pulitzer Prize–winning Double Sextet in celebration of the composer’s 90th birthday.
