A journey of collaboration and music
The Joy of Learning
I am enamored by SOLI Salon for so many wonderful reasons. As a passionate amateur pianist and older adult, I’ve come to accept my limitations, knowing I may never play with the same virtuosity as the professionals I admire. However, I am learning to share the joy of my interpretation with the very supportive group of music professionals and music lovers at the SOLI Salon.
A Unique Collaboration
What a unique situation that gifted professionals perform with enthusiastic adult amateurs to further expand the depth of a composition with an individually composed arrangement by Dr. Carolyn True. The piano solos followed by the ensemble are so special and reveal new elements of the piece, and also allow the pianist an opportunity to collaborate with a different instrument and musician. I was amazed at the new depths of color and sonority as I performed an Adagio from a Mozart Sonata with the singing tones of the cello performed by the amazing David Mollenauer. Such a fantastic experience!
A Community of Music Lovers
The atmosphere of other adult recreational pianists listening and performing is very reassuring, and then socializing after the session is building such a comfortable group of music lovers. The SOLI Salon is hosted in homes of both performers and supporters, giving a warm, homey, supportive atmosphere and the opportunity to play different pianos (performing on different pianos, as opposed to your own, is its own learning experience). This opportunity to perform, socialize, and collaborate with other amateur pianists and accomplished members of the SOLI Ensemble, to play unique arrangements of compositions, in a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment, encourages continued active musical involvement. SOLI Salon and SOLI Ensemble offer special opportunities for all levels of musicians, listeners, and enthusiasts!
