SOLI EDUCATION OFFERINGS
SOLI ENSEÑA
SOLI brings music education to life through SOLI Enseña. With children, adult, and composer programs offered throughout the year, there is something here for everyone! Each program is designed to let students discover and appreciate their unique musical voice.
SOLI Saturdays
LISTEN OUTSIDE THE BOX.
SOLI is embarking on a new SOLI Saturday education project. This year, we’ve opened the gates to all instrumentalists and vocalists. SOLI member and Education Director, Carolyn True, will present a variety of workshops focusing on several musical elements. Registrants will gain musical skills by participating in interactive exercises. The workshops are open to all and no one will be asked to perform a piece. Yes, you can learn techniques away from your instrument that you can transfer to your performances! The workshops will be fun, engaging, and are structured to serve almost all ages (from 3rd grade to adult).
September 28, Balance and Dynamics:
Together we will explore how to navigate several disparate forces, by choosing tempo, volume, and presence. In this interactive presentation each participant will develop keener listening skills and begin to understand the complexity of several musical voices. No musical skill or talent is required! I invite students, parents, and teachers to join in the fun!
November 16, Articulation
January 25, Character (with guest clinician Brad Beckman).
April 26, Rhythm and Meter
All SOLI Saturdays are free and will be held at the Musical Arts Center of San Antonio (Cimarron Path location) from 10 am to 11:30 — registration is required on our website.
Please note that each pre-college student (18 years and younger) must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Additional family members are encouraged to attend and all teachers are invited!
Register today – options for youth and adult workshops are available now!
SOLI Adult Mondays
6:30–8 pm
Hear the music you play in a whole new way! With SOLI Adult Mondays, adult piano students experience chamber music in a comfortable home environment. Through guided sessions their performance of a solo work can be enhanced and improved through interactions with other musicians.
Workshops will be on October 21, December 9, February 3, April 7, and May 5.
Locations to be distributed to the adults who register. All venues will be within San Antonio.
I SOLO'D with SOLI
Listen outside the box.
Student pianists will rehearse and be coached on a complete solo piece specifically arranged for piano trio (piano, violin, and cello). The piano part remains unchanged from the original solo version. The ISWS participants will hone their solo and ensemble performance skills simultaneously, building on the experiences gained in SOLI Saturdays. Visit this page for the list of piano works students can use for this program. Where there are multiple pieces with the same name (Minuet, Ecossaise, etc.) a short musical example is attached for reference.
